The specialist will communicate effectively with staff and patients, work as a team player, and manage time and assignments efficiently. They must be able to multitask, handle busy environments, and communicate calmly and clearly with patients in various circumstances. Additionally, the role involves assembling patient health information, ensuring EHR accuracy, communicating with healthcare professionals, and providing charts for legal purposes. The specialist will also handle scheduling, urgent appointments, cancellations, and system problem consultation. A key part of the role is managing referral orders, verifying insurance eligibility, initiating and tracking referral processes, obtaining prior authorizations, and maintaining accurate records. The specialist will serve as a point of contact for specialists, coordinate medical information exchange, and resolve referral-related issues, while also providing patient education and support throughout the healthcare system navigation.
