Inova Health is looking for a dedicated Patient Access Specialist Sr to join the team. This role will be full-time, hours vary: 7:30am – 5:30pm. Requirements

  • High school or GED
  • 2 years of patient access experience

  • Recent Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) work experience

Responsibilities

  • Audits records and documentation for accuracy, troubleshoots discrepancies, and supports escalations.
  • Compiles reports, troubleshoots system issues, and supports peers.
  • Audits referrals and supports escalations.
  • Conducts financial reviews and mentors staff.
  • Troubleshoots complex cases and educates peers on insurance contract nuances.
  • Handles escalations and analyzes trends.
  • Analyzes performance and trains staff on patient kiosks.
  • Handles sensitive concerns, audits logs, and advocates for patient needs.
  • Audits referral workflows and mentors staff.
  • Schedules surgeries and verifies readiness.
  • Solves transport issues and audits logs.
  • Liaises with Health Information Management (HIM) on merges and audits medical record numbers (MRNs).
  • Supports escalations for medical necessity.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.
