About The Position

The Patient Access Specialist II Oncology Billing is responsible for performing duties associated with Oncology, Outpatient Infusion Center, Patient Access, and Oncology Billing. Candidates must be proficient with insurance, authorizations, billing processes and CPT/ICD10. This position requires interaction with insurance carriers, physicians, nurses, PCP offices and patients in a busy Oncology office setting. The Patient Access Specialist II must be able to work accurately in a fast-paced environment. They are responsible for obtaining appropriate authorizations for procedures ordered by the Oncology providers, timely follow-up and documenting the information in the Oncology EHR systems. They will need to work on issues preventing claims from being billed to the insurance carriers and must interact in a customer-focused and compassionate manner to ensure patients and their representatives’ needs are met.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Proficiency with insurance, authorizations, billing processes and CPT/ICD10.
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-service oriented.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with Team Members at all levels in the organization.
  • Professionalism in interpersonal verbal and written communication skills with colleagues, physicians and ancillary department personnel is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of related work experience preferred, preferably in healthcare or customer service environment utilizing the following skills: Effectively communicating with individuals from varying socio-economic backgrounds and obtaining pertinent information.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Organizational and time management skills necessary to complete multiple tasks.
  • EPIC EHR experience preferred.
