About The Position

Under the leadership of the Director, Oncology, the patient access representative is an active member of the Oncology Services team that delivers medical staff services and office support consistent with the strategic vision, goals, philosophy, and direction of Oncology Services and CRHS. The patient access representative provides clerical and administrative support to the medical office staff, maintaining files and records, scheduling office appointments, communicating with collaborating providers/hospitals, and preparing reports or other documents as directed. The patient representative access ensures that the oncology center operates in an efficient manner and collects, verifies, and submits patient billing information for reimbursement.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma with an emphasis in Office Occupations and Administrative Skills or a GED state certification.
  • Requires up to one year of work-related on-the-job experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Requires and maintains a current and valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • A business office school, Medical Assistant program, 3 or more years of medical office experience or Associate’s degrees is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clerical and administrative support to the medical office staff ensuring it operates efficiently.
  • Schedules initial and follow-up appointments
  • Schedule patient transportation to and from the Oncology Center
  • Coordinates referrals to surgical services, radiation oncology and providers as needed.
  • Enters and tracks the timely submission of patient-related paperwork, supplemental orders and billing-related information.
  • Coordinates with Financial Services billing-related issues to ensure the maximum reimbursement for services rendered is obtained.
  • Checks patient visit data, verifying dates, billable and non-billable charges, and checks daily reports for billing interface between agency software and billing software if requested.
  • Completes registration and orders for laboratory or imaging tests.
  • Promotes teamwork on a daily basis by encouraging communication and reporting problems and concerns to the Director, Oncology
  • Assists the physicians with reports and correspondence as directed.
  • Ensures the office’s physical space is well maintained and provides a comfortable, safe and secure environment for all patients, guests and staff.
  • Assists with the coordination of Oncology office sponsored special events, meetings, seminars, educational or training programs
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
  • Verifies order and prior authorization for select medication upon registration.
  • Review provider notes to ensure scans, labs and follow up visits are scheduled.
