About The Position
Shriners Children’s – Portland is seeking a PRN Patient Access Representative to specialize in the registration process. This position is per diem, non-exempt and health benefits eligible. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2 Years Patient Access, insurance verification
- 2 Years Computer applications, typing, general office skills
- 2 Years Clerical experience with the ability to coordinate, manage, and follow-up

Responsibilities
- Registration/check-in of patients for hospital and clinic appointments
- Accurately maintain patient data, insurance information, and other pertinent information
- Obtain necessary authorization forms and accurately document information in computer
- Perform insurance verification functions, for both commercial and multi-state Medicaid plans
- Assist in the management of work-lists related to referrals, denials, and authorization requirements
- Assist with financial counseling functions for Uninsured patients
- Support new patient intake and patient scheduling functions as needed
- Provide superior customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff
