About The Position

This position is responsible for completing patient registration duties and providing administrative support for assigned area(s). Collects and validates accurate patient demographic and insurance information, verifies authorizations and referrals as required and data enters necessary information into registration system. Informs the patient of estimated liability at the time of service, collects patient liabilities, identifies patients in need of financial assistance and refers patients to financial counseling as necessary. Join Our Patient Access Team Logan Health is looking for a professional, compassionate, and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to support patients through the registration and financial clearance process. In this role, you will be one of the first people patients and families interact with during their care experience. You will help ensure patient information is accurate, insurance benefits are verified, payments are processed appropriately, and patients are connected with the right financial resources when needed. About the Clinic This position is located at 350 Heritage Way, Suite 1200, on the first floor of The Rock. This clinic setting offers a professional, team-oriented environment where the Patient Access team helps support a smooth and welcoming experience for patients from the moment they arrive. This role will also be part of an exciting transition as Logan Health clinics move toward a more centralized Patient Access model in the future. As this process evolves, the Patient Access Representative will help support consistent workflows, strong communication, and a positive experience for patients, families, and clinic teams.

Requirements

  • Related coursework beyond high school or experience in a complex administrative support position
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a customer service-focused position
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn additional software programs as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to act with integrity, kindness, and empathy
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in registration, scheduling, financial clearance, patient financial services, insurance verification, billing, or certified medical assisting
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare insurance and benefit programs
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding

Responsibilities

  • Completing patient registrations based on acuity level, clinical direction, and department protocol
  • Gathering and verifying patient demographic, insurance, and visit-specific information
  • Ensuring accurate entry of critical patient and insurance data
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits through insurance verification systems
  • Calculating and communicating patient out-of-pocket responsibility when appropriate
  • Collecting and processing payments for current services and previous balances
  • Referring self-pay patients to financial counseling according to department procedure
  • Maintaining knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, third-party payer requirements, insurance guidelines, pre-authorization and referral requirements, and accepted insurance plans
  • Identifying insurance plans accurately within applicable systems and understanding contract requirements
  • Communicating customer service concerns and process improvement opportunities to leadership
  • Meeting productivity and quality expectations while taking ownership of your work
  • Providing administrative support to help assigned areas operate effectively and efficiently
  • Maintaining regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership
