About The Position

The Patient Access Specialist position is part of the growing MUSC Health presence at the Bluffton Medical Pavilion, a modern outpatient facility designed to expand access to high-quality care in the Lowcountry. This role supports a collaborative, patient-centered environment where access to care begins the moment a patient makes contact. At Bluffton Medical Pavilion, teams work together across scheduling, registration, and clinical coordination to ensure patients experience seamless, timely, and compassionate service. This is an opportunity to join MUSC Health during an exciting phase of expansion in the Bluffton and greater Hilton Head region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution OR High school diploma/GED with: At least 2 years of experience in a medical office, call center, or customer service environment OR at least 6 months of MUSC Patient Access experience OR at least 6 months of related healthcare experience

Responsibilities

  • Providing front desk coverage in a fast-paced outpatient setting
  • Scheduling appointments for internal and external referrals, including hospital and community providers
  • Managing high-volume multi-line phone systems with professionalism and urgency
  • Completing patient registration, verification, and documentation accurately and efficiently
  • Collecting payments for clinical services and assisting with billing-related inquiries
  • Coordinating interpreter services to support patient communication needs
  • Collaborating with clinical teams, schedulers, technologists, and referring offices to ensure smooth patient flow
  • Supporting a positive patient experience through clear communication and service excellence
