This role provides a positive patient experience by registering patients with strong communication and customer service skills. The representative accurately searches for and selects the correct patient, gathering complete and accurate demographic and insurance information. They identify uninsured patients for referral to Medical Assistance/Charity Care evaluation, retrieve orders, confirm medical necessity, and answer phones for outpatient visits. Additionally, they gather worker’s comp or auto insurance information from accident patients, collect patient out-of-pocket liability/copays, verify insurance, and confirm referrals and authorizations are on file, if required. The position involves interacting with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson's values. Responsibilities include gathering accurate demographic information, requesting and scanning photo ID and insurance cards, recording complete and accurate information, entering orders, confirming medical necessity, and completing the Medicare Secondary Payer (MSPQ) questionnaire for Medicare patients. The role also involves using RTE (Real Time Eligibility), Phreesia, or payer websites to verify insurance coverage, benefits, and out-of-pocket liability, ensuring proper referrals and authorizations are on file. Adherence to departmental and institutional protocols, meeting regulatory and compliance requirements, and achieving individual and team performance metrics are key. The representative will communicate and collect out-of-pocket liability from patients at the time of service and rotate assignments to all points of service areas within Patient Access (Outpatient Registration and Emergency Department).
