About The Position

Adventist Health Bakersfield is seeking a Patient Access Representative for a per-diem role with 8-hour variable shifts. This position is located onsite in Bakersfield, CA. The role is responsible for timely and accurate patient registration, interviewing patients for pertinent account information, verifying insurance, calculating and collecting patient liability amounts, obtaining necessary signatures for treatment, answering questions, explaining policies, checking for physician orders, printing and collating paperwork, and escorting patients to their designated areas or referring them to an escort.

Requirements

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Must receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply.
• Acknowledge that you have accessed and read the E-Verify Participation and Right to Work notices and understand the contents therein.

Responsibilities

• Timely and accurate patient registration.
• Interview patients for all pertinent account information.
• Verify all insurance and calculates and collects patient liability amounts.
• Ensure that all necessary signatures are obtained for treatment.
• Answer any questions and explain policies clearly.
• Check for physician orders and attaches them to appropriate patient record to ensure correct test is received.
• Print and collate any paperwork needed for each patient to for distribution to unit/department.
• Escorts patients to his/her area or refers patient to available escort as needed.
• Choose correct health plan and accurately and research to ensure accuracy when verifying insurance.
• Enter all authorization information accurately as needed.
• Follows guidelines and instructions from senior staff.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
