About The Position

The Patient Access Representative III creates the first impression of ECU Health’s services for patients, families, and other external customers. The role performs pre-arrival duties related to pre-registration and financial clearance for outpatient and inpatient services. It collects accurate demographic and financial information to support payment by a third-party payer or the patient; verifies insurance eligibility; coordinates referrals; and secures authorizations. The representative acts as the primary liaison for patients receiving professional and hospital services at ECU Health.

The position is scheduled for 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 6 AM to 10 AM. The stated pay range is $16.97–$24.74.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or higher.
• 2 to 4 years of registration, scheduling, and insurance authorization experience within a healthcare setting.
• 5 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication, detail orientation, organization, and multitasking skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with EPIC and medical office workflows.
• Insurance verification experience.
