About The Position

Baptist Health is hiring a Patient Access Representative II to join our Patient Access team at Baptist South in Jacksonville, FL. This is a Part-Time opportunity. Scheduled shift, Wednesday/Thursday 6:45pm-7:15am. The Patient Access team plays a critical role in creating a positive patient experience and ensuring accurate and efficient access to care. This role is ideal for a customer-focused professional with healthcare and insurance experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and supporting patients throughout the registration and access process.

Requirements

  • Customer Service Experience (required)
  • Healthcare Experience (required)
  • 1–2 years Insurance Experience (required)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hospital registration or patient access (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, visitors, and other healthcare team members
  • Assist patients with the registration and patient access process while ensuring accurate demographic and insurance information
  • Verify insurance coverage and collect required patient information and documentation
  • Assist patients with questions related to registration, insurance, and the access-to-care process
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with patients and internal departments
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow applicable privacy and organizational policies
  • Utilize computer systems and patient access technology to accurately document and update patient information
  • Support efficient patient flow and contribute to a positive patient experience
  • Registers patients accurately and efficiently
  • Utilization of multiple systems and interfaces
  • Cross-Trained in order to work in multiple patient access areas
  • Maintains service excellence to patients and visitors for face-to-face and telephonic encounters
  • Contributes to PAS Goals as defined annually (Collections, Palm Scanning, etc.)
  • Possesses a strong understanding of State and Federal regulations including EMTALA, AHCA, and JCAHO
  • Maintains a professional relationship with all clinical and non-clinical team members
  • Able to articulate compliance documentation and ensure completion of required patient consent forms
  • Maintains patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
