As a Patient Access Representative in the Emergency Department, your responsibility is to deliver an exceptional experience to patients, families and visitors, from the moment they enter to the time they return home. In this role, you will assist patients with everything from registration, insurance eligibility and collecting co-payments to self-screening and scheduling services. This position provides a strong foundation to advance in your career within various departments at the Cleveland Clinic. This role is a great steppingstone to others within Customer Service and various departments within Cleveland Clinic. You can also take advantage of the tuition reimbursement to obtain your Master’s Degree. A caregiver in this position nights 6:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. weekend and holiday rotation requirements. This position follows an alternating schedule, with two 8-hour shifts one week and three 8-hour shifts the next.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year
  • Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems
  • Ability to work confidently and efficiently in an emergency department setting

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, billing and coding
  • Insurance experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform registration and obtain information about demographics, insurance, medical and financial
  • Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED, and cash register
  • Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.
  • Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic
