As a Patient Access Representative, your responsibility is to deliver an exceptional experience to patients, families, and visitors from the moment they arrive until the time they return home. You will assist with registration, information gathering, payment collection, and insurance verification. This position will cover registration for the ED, including collecting demographics and insurance information, collecting co-pays, and handling other administrative tasks. This role is a great steppingstone to others within Customer Service and various departments within Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this role works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma OR GED and two years of experience in a customer-facing role with in person or phone contact OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of medical terminology OR completion of course within year of hire
  • Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform registration and obtain information about demographics, insurance, medical and financial.
  • Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.
  • Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.
  • Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
  • May rotate to different locations/hospitals based on staffing needs.
