This role functions as a liaison between patients, families, and staff, performing the scheduling and registration process for appointments within the ambulatory setting. The Patient Access Representative I will greet patients and families professionally, perform check-in and check-out for visits, and obtain accurate patient demographics, identification, insurance coverage, and other relevant information. This position also promotes and assists patients/families in signing up for MyChart, provides guidance on the financial screening process, and ensures adherence to organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights. The representative will maintain patient information in the electronic medical record, support quality care through compliance, and perform the patient intake/referral process. Additional duties include maintaining and distributing faxes, screening and routing calls, scanning clinical record information, maintaining work queues in Epic, and performing scheduling of new and/or follow-up patient visits. The role also involves maintaining registration-related key performance indicators, supporting performance improvement goals and departmental initiatives, and practicing financial and resource stewardship. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, along with abiding by the organization's core values.
