About The Position

The Patient Access Representative- Check In role at the Center for Orthopaedics is responsible for greeting and checking in patients in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner. This role ensures all patients are properly registered and that necessary documentation, such as updated insurance cards and identification, is obtained. The representative also verifies insurance status, directs patients to appropriate areas, and advises on registration procedures. Additionally, they monitor patient charts for credit status and required deposits, directing patients to the business office as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to greet and check in patients courteously and friendly.
  • Proficiency in obtaining updated insurance cards and identification.
  • Understanding of insurance verification processes.
  • Ability to direct patients to appropriate stations (e.g., vitals).
  • Knowledge of registration procedures and CFO guidelines.
  • Ability to monitor patient charts for credit status and deposit requirements.
  • Skill in directing patients to the business office when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and checks in patients in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Obtains updated insurance cards and identification cards as needed upon arrival.
  • Ensures that insurance verification specialist has verified each patient's insurance and that the insurance is active.
  • Directs patient to the vitals station when vital signs are necessary.
  • Ensures that the patient updates his/her registration according to CFO guidelines.
  • Advises and directs patients, including walk-ins, appearing at the front desk about registration procedures.
  • Monitors charts for credit status of delinquent Accounts or surgery deposits required and directs them to appropriate business office personnel while checking patients in.
