The University of Miami Health System has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Patient Access Representative 3 position. This role oversees the registration and financial clearance activities that facilitate reimbursement for services rendered by the department and serves as a functional expert for department peers. The position involves obtaining, confirming, and entering demographic, financial, and clinical information for financial clearance, contacting patients' families or physicians' offices for missing insurance information, and verifying insurance eligibility. The representative will notify patients of liabilities prior to the date of service and collect funds, maintain appropriate records, and serve as a lead resource for lower-level Patient Access Representatives. Department-specific functions include ensuring smooth patient flow, providing supervisory coverage in the absence of a Supervisor, and identifying new approaches to enhance team performance. The role requires interacting effectively with patients of all ages and the healthcare team, coordinating a wide range of functions using multiple systems simultaneously, performing pre-service validation, and assisting patients with self-serve technology. Accurate data entry, review of real-time eligibility, and critical communication with patients regarding legal and compliance documents are essential. The role also involves financial counseling, explaining benefits, creating estimates, collecting patient financial responsibility, and promoting effective communication with the healthcare team. Handling a high volume of calls, collecting and processing currency, and assisting the department in meeting key performance indicator goals are also part of the responsibilities. The position requires recognizing, analyzing, solving, and de-escalating issues, ensuring physical distancing, and working with the healthcare team to resolve unique situations. Cross-training to carry out all Front-End Revenue Cycle and Clinical Support functions and the ability to float across all areas are necessary. Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements is essential. Specific area functions include ER, Admitting, CTU, Hospital Based Clinic, Practice Based Clinic, and Remote Based call center operations, each with unique characteristics and support requirements.
