The position involves extensive phone-based patient registration and scheduling of radiology tests. The Patient Access Representative serves as the initial point of contact for patients, requiring a high standard of customer service, compassion, and adherence to BJC's mission, vision, values, and service standards. Key responsibilities include facilitating patient entrance into BJC facilities, demonstrating high emotional intelligence, and making personal connections with patients whose experiences vary based on medical needs. The role is crucial for maximizing reimbursements and preventing denials through accurate collection of demographics and insurance information, benefit verification, and point-of-service collection. Correct patient identification in the master person index (MPI) is vital for patient safety. The team member must possess a friendly demeanor, exceptional attention to detail, and maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and federal, state, and accreditation agency requirements.
