About The Position

Missouri Baptist Sullivan is looking for a Patient Access Rep II for their Physical Therapy department. This is an on-site position with a Monday - Friday schedule from 10 am to 6:30 pm. No weekends or holidays are required. Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital is a designated critical access hospital committed to providing quality health care service to residents in Crawford, Franklin and Washington counties. The hospital has enhanced and expanded its health care services with a state-of-the-art emergency department, modern childbirth center, critical care unit, multi-room surgical suite, expanded cardiac rehab services, and a cancer center. A medical office building provides offices for primary care physicians and visiting medical and surgical specialists. The hospital operates four rural health clinics, a comprehensive Therapy and Rehabilitation department, and an award-winning Wound Care Center. Physical, occupational, and speech therapies are offered at the Sullivan Sports Fitness & Rehabilitation Center, which provides a full range of therapies and equipment for various conditions and injuries. The center also offers an exercise specialist, massage therapist, and a community-accessible exercise facility. The Physical Rehab Dept is certified by the Missouri State Division of Workers' Compensation to treat occupational injuries.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate all components of the patients' entrance into any BJC facility.
  • Perform hospital registration and scheduling within multiple BJC systems.
  • Assure proper patient identification, register, schedule, verify insurance, scan and retrieve documents within multiple BJC systems.
  • Validate that the order is complete, signed by the ordering provider, and the correct test is ordered.
  • Provide patients with preparation instructions for each scheduled procedure.
  • Educate patients on financial responsibilities and collect applicable patient payments.
  • Understand, articulate, and enforce hospital compliance with Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP), HIPAA Privacy Standards, Patient Bill of Rights and Responsibilities, Advance Directives, Consent to Treat, EMTALA, JCAHO Requirements.
  • Ensure each patient completes HIPAA acknowledgement.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to assess and respond to a variety of situations, anticipating patients' needs.
  • Communicate in a professional, positive, and patient-focused manner with all patients, families, and co-workers, whether in-person or by phone.
  • Meet or exceed quality standards and serve as a mentor for lesser skilled employees.
  • Maintain a high level of emotional intelligence and make a personal connection with patients.
  • Accurately collect demographics and insurance information, perform benefit verification, and collect point of service payments.
  • Select the correct patient from the master person index (MPI) for patient safety.
  • Maintain knowledge and competence with insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and federal, state, and accreditation agencies.
