About The Position

The Supplemental Patient Access Registrar will fill in for vacation and sick calls at various locations based on department need. This position is eligible for a 12% supplemental differential. The role greets and welcomes all patients and visitors, presenting a friendly, courteous, and professional image. Responsibilities include checking in patients with ordered exams, collecting patient payments, verifying insurance eligibility, providing payment estimations, answering phones, and ensuring a smooth patient flow.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • One year of clerical experience is preferred
  • Anatomy and medical terminology – preferred
  • Medical office experience – preferred
  • Understanding of all procedures to be read by radiologist – preferred
  • Experience with Outlook; Microsoft Office Suite; Workday, Qgenda, Webex; Intellispace PACS, EPIC : PayNav; Medicalis; Internet/Intranet is highly desired.
  • Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults.
  • Employees must not be included on the LIST OF EXCLUDED INDIVIDUALS provided by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
  • Eligible employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and welcomes all patients and visitors.
  • Ensures all patients are registered and “arrived”.
  • Provides assistance to patients requiring it.
  • Maintains a clean work area to represent the professional image of Inland Imaging.
  • Collects all demographic and billing data, and checks insurance eligibility.
  • Locates patient’s insurance information if they do not have it with them.
  • Prints out payment estimator forms, answers patient questions, and asks if the patient would like to make a payment.
  • Processes patient payments utilizing Zirmed payment system.
  • Schedules walk-in patient exams.
  • Prepares paperwork for patient exams in advance, including add-ons, and provides the paperwork to the appropriate modality.
  • Links orders to patient exams.
  • Checks PayNav for proper insurance information and attempts to find patient’s insurance info if they do not have it with them or it is not located on referral.
  • Checks in interpreters through universal language services.
  • Identifies patient orders in the Clerical Worklist.
  • Calls referring offices to obtain orders not found in Medicalis or to clarify orders.
  • Works with all departments to ensure smooth patient flow and care.
  • Answers phones and assists callers.
  • Arrives and updates patient demographics, checks eligibility on insurance in Medicalis, and checks payment estimator to give amount to patient.
  • Finds and links orders to patient exams.
  • Checks in interpreters through language link.
  • Generates exam reports as requested by referring provider offices.
  • Documents and scans all paperwork and attaches it to patients' accession numbers.
  • Burns patient exams and reports onto CDs or flash drives to be given to patients and referring provider offices.
  • Loads CDs that have been requested for previous exams.
  • Coordinates with FedEx for next day mail service requests.
  • Resolves the exception log for previous images.
  • Scans to patient timeline any reports for previous exams.
  • Pushes images from Isite to other facilities.
  • Fills out consent forms for breast procedures.
  • Assists patients with their needs while they are in the office.
  • Fulfills medical record requests for the radiology department at SHMC.
  • Pulls mammography previous exams for the mammography department.
  • Works with departments to schedule St. Lukes patients and pulls demographic/insurance info from EPIC.
  • Helps switchboard with all the medical requests for Inland Imaging.
  • Merges accounts and resolves exceptions.
  • Verifies ICD-10 codes and matches description for walk-in exams.
  • Rotates to other shifts and locations as needed.
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality within the Inland Imaging companies and Inland’s customers.
  • Follows all Health and Safety policies and guidelines of Inland Imaging or its partners depending on work location.
  • Follows all company policies including those regarding harassment, non-retaliation, discrimination, respectful workplace, and related policies.
  • Follows all policies regarding HIPAA, non-disclosure of confidential information and company security.
  • Demonstrates self-directed learning and participation in continuing education through professional journals, approved seminars, etc.
  • Considers individual needs in communication with and assessment and treatment of patients of all ages.
  • Adheres to departmental standards and personnel policies by demonstrating professional demeanor in conduct and appearance.
  • Follows company departmental standards and personnel policies by using good teamwork and communication skills to help identify concerns and solutions, assisting where needed to ensure a smooth functioning department.
  • Performs other duties as required by displaying team spirit and self-growth, accepting and performing other projects and responsibilities, and requesting other projects and responsibilities.
