About The Position

Patient Access Registrar’s primary responsibilities are to gather all pertinent patient information, accurately admit/register or pre-admit patients, pre-certify all applicable admissions/pre-admissions, and obtain signatures on all appropriate admissions forms. The role also involves verifying patient benefits/eligibility and entering this information into the Hospital’s Information System. Additionally, the registrar is responsible for estimating and collecting co-pays/deductibles owed to the hospital, identifying and referring patients to the financial assistance department, and providing insurance verification functions as needed. As the primary entry point into the system, all duties are performed with a focus on guest relations to ensure a positive patient and family experience. The position requires accountability for admitting/registering and providing directions to patients and/or family members across all age groups (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric), demonstrating the ability to understand and respond effectively to their needs.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Ability to accurately complete data entry tasks for new and established MMH patients
  • Ability to accurately complete insurance verification tasks
  • Ability to complete Medicare Secondary Payer information
  • Adherence to department policies and procedures
  • Accurate completion of financial counseling responsibilities
  • Accurate completion of Admissions paperwork

Responsibilities

  • Gather all pertinent patient information
  • Accurately admit/register or pre-admit patients
  • Pre-certify all applicable admissions/pre-admissions
  • Obtain signatures on all appropriate admissions forms
  • Ensure that patient benefits/eligibility are verified and entered into the Hospital’s Information’s System
  • Estimate and collect all co-pay’s/deductible’s that are owed to the hospital
  • Identify and refer patients’ to the financial assistance department
  • Provide a full range of insurance verification functions on an as needed basis
  • Complete data entry tasks for new and established MMH patients
  • Complete insurance verification tasks
  • Complete Medicare Secondary Payer information
  • Complete financial counseling responsibilities
  • Complete Admissions paperwork
  • Provide a full range of insurance verification functions on an as needed basis as requested by Management
  • Act as the Hospital’s primary entry point into the system
  • Complete all job duties in a manner that is consistent with the highest quality of guest relations
  • Provide a positive experience for the patient and/or his/her family member(s)
  • Admit/register and/or provide verbal directions to patients and/or family members in any or all of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and/or geriatric
  • Demonstrate the appropriate skills to understand and react effectively to the needs of these patients and/or family members
