About The Position

The Patient Access Registrar is a Part Time, Regular position working Monday-Friday 2pm-7pm at Sacred Heart Imaging Center. This role involves greeting and welcoming patients and visitors, ensuring a friendly, courteous, and professional image. The registrar checks in patients with ordered exams, collects payments, verifies insurance eligibility, provides payment estimations, answers phones, and ensures a smooth patient flow. This position may require working in various settings including hospitals, urgent care, or clinical environments and may involve rotating to different shifts and locations as needed. Inland Imaging operates and manages outpatient imaging centers with state-of-the-art technology and dedicated staff to provide reliable diagnostic imaging and patient care support.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • One year of clerical experience is preferred
  • Experience with Outlook, Workday, Intellispace PACS, EPIC, PayNav, Medicalis, Internet/Intranet is highly desired.
  • Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840.
  • Must not be included on the LIST OF EXCLUDED INDIVIDUALS provided by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
  • Eligible employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Anatomy and medical terminology knowledge is preferred.
  • Medical office experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of all procedures to be read by a radiologist is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and welcomes all patients and visitors.
  • Ensures all patients are registered and “arrived”.
  • Provides assistance to patients as needed.
  • Maintains a clean work area.
  • Answers phones and assists callers.
  • Arrives and updates patient demographics.
  • Checks insurance eligibility in Medicalis.
  • Uses the payment estimator to provide patients with cost amounts.
  • Checks PayNav for proper insurance information and attempts to locate insurance details if missing or not on the referral.
  • Finds and links orders to patient exams.
  • Checks in interpreters through Language Link.
  • Generates exam reports as requested by referring provider offices.
  • Documents and scans all paperwork, attaching it to patients' accession numbers.
  • Burns patient exams and reports onto CDs or flash drives for patients and referring provider offices.
  • Coordinates with FedEx for next-day mail service requests.
  • Resolves the exception log for previous images.
  • Loads CDs requested for previous PAC scans to the patient timeline.
  • Pushes images from Isite to other facilities.
  • Processes patient payments through Zirmed.
  • Fills out consent forms for breast procedures.
  • Calls referring offices to obtain missing orders or clarify existing ones.
  • Assists patients with their needs while they are in the office (SHIC).
  • Fulfills medical record requests for the radiology department at SHMC (SHIC).
  • Pulls mammography previous for the mammography department (SC).
  • Works with departments to schedule St. Lukes patients and pulls demographic/insurance info from EPIC (SC).
  • Helps switchboard with medical requests for Inland Imaging.
  • Works with all departments to ensure smooth patient flow and care.
  • Merges accounts and resolves exceptions.
  • Schedules walk-in patient exams.
  • Verifies ICD-10 codes and matches descriptions for walk-in exams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates self-directed learning and participation in continuing education.
  • Considers individual needs in communication with and assessment and treatment of patients of all ages.
  • Adheres to departmental standards and personnel policies.
