The Enterprise Revenue Cycle department is seeking a Full-Time Patient Access Registrar for the Cabarrus NC Arrival Emergency Department. This role is responsible for performing all job duties in a way that conforms to the customer service philosophy and consistent with "AIDET" standards. Key responsibilities include greeting patients, explaining services, providing information on expected wait times, explaining the need for demographic and financial information, and safeguarding patient information. The registrar will also be responsible for identifying insurance coverage, benefits, patient out-of-pocket expenses, and collecting co-insurance and co-payments when creating new registrations. They will use electronic systems to confirm coverage, discuss findings with the patient, and follow department policies to resolve eligibility or network status issues. For uninsured patients, the registrar will screen for urgent status cases, follow charity procedures, and refer for financial counseling. They will also screen orders for compliance with policy and work with physicians and other leaders to resolve issues related to order quality. Additionally, the registrar is responsible for security authorization and precertification of inpatient and outpatient services, notifying relevant departments about uninsured patients or those with Third Party Liability or Workers Compensation. They will maintain knowledge of computer software for eligibility verification, identify at-risk balances related to Medicare coverage limits and Medicaid eligibility rules, and communicate these to appropriate departments. The registrar will initiate communication with patients regarding authorization issues and potential financial impacts, and accurately collect and analyze clinical data for prior authorization and precertification. They will maintain current knowledge of insurance requirements, federal and state regulations regarding billing, and ensure completion of policies for identification and notification of the Primary Care Physician for HMO coverage. The registrar will also inform relevant departments of out-of-network or non-covered service limitations. Furthermore, they are responsible for pre-registration and registration accuracy, ensuring accurate entry of patient demographic and insurance information in the ADT system, pre-registering and registering patients using established procedures, providing education on documents requiring signatures, managing calls for pre-registrations, and generating/assembling required documents. Participation in departmental team building activities, in-services, and other assigned duties is also expected.
