About The Position

Adventist Rehabilitation - Rockville is seeking an experienced Patient Access Registrar 1 for their Rehabilitation team. This role supports hospital registration for all outpatient and inpatient services by obtaining financial information for reimbursement and statistical data. The registrar will accurately enter demographic and insurance information, register and pre-register patients, collect patient responsibility, and obtain necessary signatures. They will also process, balance, and post daily patient payments, greet and assist visitors/patients, and perform accurate demographic and insurance updates. Additionally, the role provides administrative support for the Patient Access Department, including answering phones, typing, faxing, filing, copying, scanning, and data entry.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience within a healthcare environment (can include insurers or public health settings).
  • At least 1 year experience in patient registration and/or eligibility and benefits.
  • Requires some knowledge/training in government payer rules and regulations.
  • Requires some knowledge/training regarding TPLs, WC, and other payment sources and liabilities.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate ability to multitask and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment and PC skills.

  • Some college preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports hospital registration of all outpatient and inpatient services by obtaining the financial information pertinent to reimbursement and statistical data.
  • Enters all demographic, insurance, and patient notes accurately.
  • Registers and pre-registers patients as they arrive for their appointments and collect patient responsibility.
  • Obtains any signatures needed from the patient at the time of registration or arrival.
  • Processes, balances and posts daily patient payments.
  • Greets and routes all visitors/patients and responds to their requests in a helpful and courteous manner on the phone and in person.
  • Performs accurate demographic and insurance updates on all patients as needed and required.
  • Verifies, collects, and accurately enters insurance information into the electronic health record system, and immediately notifies supervisor if problems arise.
  • Provides administrative support for Patient Access Dept., including answering phones, typing, faxing, electronic filing, copying, scanning and data entry, as needed.
