The Patient Access Liaison (PAL) is a field-based patient access and reimbursement specialist supporting patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and sites of care as they navigate insurance coverage and reimbursement pathways for Amgen therapies. The role helps stakeholders understand payer requirements, prior authorization, reimbursement considerations, and available patient support resources, with the goal of addressing barriers and supporting timely, sustained access to therapy. The PAL manages assigned patient cases independently and shares field insights that inform broader access strategies. The PAL engages patients and caregivers by phone, virtually, and in person; educates them about coverage considerations, prior authorization steps, and appropriate financial assistance resources; and provides education to physician offices and sites of care on coverage pathways, coding, billing, and reimbursement. The role investigates access challenges before and after infusion, supports review of denied claims, and escalates complex or systemic issues to appropriate stakeholders. The PAL collaborates with internal teams including Market Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, Case Management, and Site of Care teams, as well as external partners. The role requires adherence to company policies, applicable regulations, HIPAA privacy requirements, internal compliance guidance, and pharmacovigilance processes. Accurate documentation of activities and interactions in Amgen’s internal system is also required. The territory includes Alaska, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Travel may be up to 50%, including occasional overnight and weekend commitments.
