The Patient Access Coordinator provides support for the daily operations of Patient Access functions while performing the day-to-day duties of a Registration Clerk. Responsibilities include ensuring that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy. The role also involves distributing and explaining forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members, verifying insurance benefits and obtaining precertification/authorization as necessary, and determining and accepting required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or referring to financial counselors for follow up. The position requires timely completion of IMM's & MSP's for compliance, maintaining lobby and registration wait times to less than 10 minutes, and emergency room wait times to less than 30 minutes from MSE. Additionally, the coordinator verifies insurance and runs estimators for pre-registration accounts, supports lobby functions by answering multi-line phones and directing calls using appropriate scripting, and continually educates registration staff on any changes pertinent to their roles. Support is also provided for the coordination of all department meetings and gatherings, and other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Patient Access Supervisor or PFSD.
