Responsible for greeting incoming patients, distributing paperwork, and entering pertinent information, including insurance and demographics. This role involves registering and preregistering patients, conducting interviews within HIPAA standards to obtain and verify demographic, employment, retirement, accident, and insurance information. The clerk will also obtain and verify insurance cards and Picture ID, scan them into the EMR, and run eligibility checks at the time of check-in. Confirmation of data accuracy for patient accounts, coordination of eligibility and benefits determination, and ensuring insurance precertification, referral, and authorization requirements are met are key responsibilities. The role also includes completing necessary follow-up for unavailable information, obtaining electronic signatures for consent and billing, presenting patients with information about their rights and responsibilities, and ensuring accurate patient identification by applying ID bracelets. Flexibility in shifts, including occasional Saturdays and Holidays, and other duties such as filing, sorting, and alphabetizing are expected. The position may also require covering the Switchboard/ER Admissions, including occasional night shifts.
