About The Position

The Patient Access Associate 1 coordinates patient flow and timely processing, and maintains knowledge of departmental, physician practice, and hospital practices for addressing patient questions or concerns. The role requires knowledge of insurance requirements, Baptist Health South Florida pricing, financial assistance options, and overall revenue cycle operations. The associate provides professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians, and community members in keeping with Baptist Health’s service excellence philosophy. The position is full-time, with a varying shift, at the Coral Gables Diagnostic Center. The estimated pay range is $16.61–$21.09 per hour, depending on experience; a $1,000 bonus is advertised.

Requirements

• High school diploma, certificate, GED, training, or equivalent experience.
• Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Detail-oriented, organized team player with compassion and excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Minimum required experience: less than one year.

Nice To Haves

• Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
• Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office and EMR applications, and accurate typing skills.
• Knowledge of regulatory guidelines including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, Medicare coverage structure, and medical necessity compliance guidelines.
• Bilingual English and Spanish/Creole preferred.
