The Patient Access Assistant will work cooperatively with Northwest Health Services (NHS) providers, supervisors, and personnel to carry out the goals and objectives of NHS. This role involves treating all individuals respectfully, attending team huddles, and managing patient interactions from greeting to check-out. Key responsibilities include collecting payments, making reminder calls, balancing payment logs, assisting patients with billing and sliding fee questions, reviewing medical charts for necessary documentation, ensuring patient information is current, and processing daily batch management. The assistant will also inform and assist patients with the Sliding Fee Scale Program, calculate and approve applications, and accurately enter related information into the computer system. Additional duties include scanning documents, maintaining a neat work area, and complying with HIPAA regulations. The role requires strong cognitive skills for interpreting instructions, excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with patients and staff, and the ability to perform job requirements in high-demand situations. Understanding basic medical terminology and maintaining confidentiality are also essential.
