About The Position

The USGA is a mission-based golf organization dedicated to unifying the golf community, showcasing top talent through national championships, providing global governance, and advancing critical issues like sustainability, accessibility, and inclusion. As a nonprofit, the USGA operates with a team driven by the good of the game. This dynamic 3+month internship program, Pathways Launch, is designed to cultivate future leaders in golf by placing talented individuals with prominent organizations across the industry. It aims to foster a cohesive and supportive community of peers. Offered under the 'Make Golf Your Thing' initiative, this program welcomes students from diverse backgrounds, particularly those interested in careers in golf, sports, hospitality, and entertainment, who aspire to future leadership roles, are open to varied experiences to broaden their skillset and network, and are currently undergraduate upperclassmen or graduate students. The program focuses on hard skills, mentorship, and career and leadership preparation through collaboration with participating organizations.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated maturity, dependability, integrity, and initiative to learn.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to positively contribute to a work environment that emphasizes teamwork, respect for differences, and accepting and giving constructive feedback.
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate (rising junior or above) or graduate program at an accredited college or university.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • No prior experience working in golf is required for most opportunities.

  • Strong interest in working in sports.

Responsibilities

  • Be placed at one of the participating organizations (e.g., Callaway Golf, DICK'S Sporting Goods/Golf Galaxy, Golf Pride, LPGA, Pebble Beach Company, Pinehurst Resorts, PGA of America, PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Superstore, USGA, Versant).
  • Potentially be assigned to roles in areas such as Marketing, Business Operations, Golf Operations, Finance, Data Analytics, Supply Chain Management, Communications, Ticketing and Event Operations, Merchandise & Licensing, Human Resources, or Equipment Standards.
  • Participate in Professional Development Sessions.
  • Engage with Designated Mentorship.
  • Gain Access to Leadership.
  • Participate in Facilitated Networking Opportunities.
  • Complete Projects.
  • Receive Coaching.
