About The Position

The Pathways Coordinator supports youth ages 12–18 in exploring and pursuing their post-secondary pathway, including college, careers, trades, certifications, or direct workforce entry. This role provides individualized guidance, skill-building, and meaningful experiences to help each participant successfully transition from high school. The Coordinator develops and delivers Pathways programming through workshops, one-on-one coaching, employer and community partnerships, and hands-on learning opportunities that prepare youth for their next steps. Working with the Program Director, Regional Directors, site leaders, schools, families, and community partners, the Coordinator aligns programming with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Ability to build trust with youth and support diverse post-secondary pathways based on individual goals.
  • Experience planning and facilitating engaging college, career, and workforce readiness programs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage programming, advising, outreach, and multiple priorities.
  • Experience coordinating events, guest speakers, employer partnerships, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Proficiency with data tracking, resource management, and participant documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, problem-solving, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with leadership and site teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred or equivalent experience in education, youth development, human services, or a similar field.
  • One to three years of experience working with youth in a school, nonprofit, or community setting required.
  • Experience in college and career readiness, workforce development, advising, case management, or counseling preferred.
  • Experience with volunteer coordination, community outreach, family engagement, event planning, or program administration preferred.
  • Familiarity with FAFSA, college admissions, scholarships, trades, certifications, and post-secondary pathways is a plus.
  • Must pass a background check and meet all Boys & Girls Club compliance requirements.
  • Valid California driver's license and insurable driving record required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual pathway counseling sessions to help youth explore and identify potential post-secondary directions including college, trade school, certification programs, entrepreneurship, military service, or direct workforce entry based on their skills, interests, and values.
  • Administer age-appropriate career assessments, interest inventories, and self-reflection activities for participants ages 12–18.
  • Guide youth through self-assessment activities including strengths identification, values clarification, and goal setting to build the self-knowledge that underpins any successful pathway.
  • Develop and maintain individual Pathway Plans for each participant, updated regularly to reflect progress, shifting interests, and evolving goals.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local labor market trends, industry skill requirements, and post-secondary opportunities relevant to youth in the Antelope Valley.
  • Coordinate college application workshops covering FAFSA completion, essay writing, application processes, and informed decision-making across post-secondary options.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local colleges, universities, trade schools, and certification programs.
  • Facilitate college readiness workshops covering study skills, college life preparation, academic planning, and navigating campus resources.
  • Connect youth with college representatives, admissions counselors, and dual enrollment opportunities.
  • Ensure participants understand and can meaningfully evaluate the full range of pathways, including community college, trade programs, apprenticeships, and workforce entry alongside four-year options.
  • Design and facilitate workshops covering resume writing, cover letter creation, interview preparation, professional communication, and workplace etiquette.
  • Teach effective job search strategies including online applications, networking, and professional follow-up.
  • Coordinate mock interview sessions and job application workshops using real-world scenarios.
  • Create and implement job readiness training that includes financial literacy, time management, and professional development.
  • Facilitate entrepreneurship and business development activities for participants interested in self-employment or small business ownership.
  • Guide youth in creating comprehensive portfolios that showcase their skills, projects, certifications, and achievements in a format suited to their individual pathway.
  • Coordinate Pathways Showcase events where youth present their portfolios and projects to family members, professionals, and community partners.
  • Connect youth with community opportunities to display or present their work at local events, employer visits, and partner organizations.
  • Research, contact, and coordinate guest speakers, employer panelists, and industry professionals from diverse backgrounds relevant to participants' pathway interests.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local employers, business leaders, college representatives, and community professionals to sustain a strong Pathways network.
  • Create and maintain a speaker and employer database to support ongoing relationship management and program continuity.
  • Facilitate networking events, industry site visits, employer panels, and pathway fairs that connect youth with the people and opportunities most relevant to their goals.
  • Maintain current pathway and career resource databases with up-to-date information on local employers, colleges, trade programs, scholarships, and certifications.
  • Provide quarterly updates on local labor market trends, emerging fields, and in-demand skills relevant to Antelope Valley youth.
  • Stay informed about scholarships, competitions, and recognition programs and proactively connect participants with appropriate opportunities.
  • Connect youth with internships, job shadowing, apprenticeships, volunteer opportunities, and service-learning projects aligned with their individual pathway.
  • Develop partnerships with local employers to create authentic, pathway-relevant work-based learning experiences.
  • Facilitate service-learning projects that build real skills while contributing to the community.
  • Track and evaluate experiential learning outcomes and participant skill development.
  • Create and distribute program flyers, promotional materials, and community communications to support Pathways recruitment and visibility, including obtaining required district approval and coordinating distribution through schools, community partners, and approved channels.
  • Develop outreach strategies to promote Pathways programming to youth, families, and community partners.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local schools, families, district partners, and community organizations.
  • Support school-year operations involving specialized teen programming, including outreach, attendance growth, and general program oversight.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding program schedules, enrollment opportunities, expectations, and updates.
  • Support participant recruitment efforts for Pathways and community-based programming.
  • Build trusting, ongoing relationships with families to encourage consistent participation and long-term engagement.
  • Demonstrate strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate program benefits effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Provide ongoing individual pathway advising to program participants, meeting them where they are and building toward their specific goals.
  • Develop and maintain individualized Pathway Plans for each youth participant, updated regularly to reflect growth and changing direction.
  • Refer youth to additional support services academic support, mental health resources, and family services when needed.
  • Monitor participation, attendance, and program outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with overall site needs to ensure the Teen Tech Center remains organized, responsive, and prepared for programming and community-based services.
  • Support safe and proper opening and closure of site operations.
  • Help coordinate staff coverage, supplies, and communication needed for smooth daily operations.
  • Respond flexibly to changing operational needs, including schedule adjustments tied to programming calendars, family events, and community needs.
