About The Position

Performs technical preparation of cytology slides from ThinPrep samples for microscopic examination and presents quality control screening of slides. This role involves identifying cytology specimens, creating sample worksheets, labeling slides, and preparing slides using various laboratory equipment and protocols. The position also includes responsibilities related to waste disposal, coordination with the Cytology manager, record keeping, and ensuring safety and privacy standards are met. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, maintain accuracy and quality in their work, and function effectively as a team member.

Requirements

• 3 month Clinical Laboratory Accessioner Training preferred
• Proficient visual and audio skills
• High school education
• Medical experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform technical preparation of cytology slides from ThinPrep samples for microscopic examination.
• Present quality control screening of slides.
• Identify cytology specimens.
• Create sample worksheets utilizing dMDL.
• Label cytology imaging slides with patient identifiers.
• Prepare slides utilizing ThinPrep 2000.
• Operate Veristain.
• Operate Tissue-Tek Film cover slipper for cytology imaging slides.
• Load and operate ThinPrep Imaging System.
• Process sample worksheets.
• Perform manual preparation of cytology slides using GAA protocol.
• Coordinate waste disposal.
• Coordinate with Cytology manager.
• Maintain record keeping.
• Assure activities are conducted in a safe manner and materials are handled according to safety guidelines.
• Assure customer privacy is maintained at all times.
• Participate as a team member and be accountable for own work responsibilities.
• Assure information is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable.
• Demonstrate initiative to proactively diagnose and resolve problems.
• Display productive work habits consistently.
• Maintain accuracy and quality for all activities.
