About The Position

Join CPG Pathology as a Full-Time Pathologists’ Assistant in Charlotte, NC! CPG Pathology is one of the largest and most dynamic private pathology groups in the Carolinas, with over 30 expert pathologists. We are seeking a motivated Pathologists’ Assistant to join our growing team and play a crucial role in our mission of excellence. You will collaborate closely with experienced PAs and Gross Technicians in a state-of-the-art lab environment. The team currently includes 10 PAs and 5+ Gross Technicians, with 4 new PA positions approved to support continued growth. The surgical case volume was 118,000 in 2024 and is expected to reach 126,000 in 2025. A new facility expansion is planned for late 2027.

Requirements

Graduate of a NAACLS accredited program.
ASCP certification.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Prior experience preferred.
New graduates with experience working in fast-paced labs during school rotations are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

Perform gross description and dissections of all complex surgical specimens.
Handle the professional component of frozen sections (average 11 per day, rotated amongst PAs).
Perform prosection and report write-up for medical autopsies (average 120 per year, rotated amongst PAs).
Collaborate with pathologists and surgeons daily for frozen sections and grossing complex specimens.
Utilize Gross Room equipment/software including Epic Beaker, Dragon DMO, Exakt Bone Saw, Hologic Faxitron, and SPOT Imaging (gross photography).
