Requirements

• License to practice medicine in Louisiana.
• Completion of a pathology residency program.

Responsibilities

• Examine tissue specimens, blood samples, and other bodily fluids to identify abnormalities, diseases, or conditions.
• Utilize various laboratory techniques, including microscopy, immunohistochemistry, and molecular testing, to analyze specimens and reach accurate diagnoses.
• Manage and oversee clinical laboratories, ensuring quality control, adherence to protocols, and accurate reporting of results.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff, including medical technologists and technicians, to maintain efficient and effective laboratory operations.
• Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, and clinicians, to integrate pathology findings into patient care and treatment plans.
• Provide consultations and communicate diagnostic results to clinicians and other members of the healthcare team.
• Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic results.
