About The Position

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking a Board Certified/Eligible Hematopathologist. The successful candidate will join the Beverly Pathology team and be responsible for signing out a wide range of hematopathology cases, including bone marrows, lymph nodes, flow cytometry, and peripheral blood smears. This position requires strong advanced diagnostic skills with subspecialty training or experience in Hematopathology. Approximately 50% of the effort will be dedicated to research and scholarship activities, with research space and start-up support provided. Eligibility for an academic appointment in the Cedars-Sinai Health System Professorial Program is required. The Division of Transfusion Medicine supports a large quaternary medical care facility, providing clinical consultation and apheresis services. Faculty in transfusion medicine, along with residents and fellows, provide on-call coverage.

Requirements

  • Board Certified/Eligible Hematopathologist.
  • Eligible for a California medical license.
  • Board Certified/Eligible in AP/CP or CP.
  • Strong advanced diagnostic skills with subspecialty training or experience in Hematopathology.
  • Eligibility for an academic appointment in the Cedars-Sinai Health System Professorial Program.

Responsibilities

  • Sign out a broad array of hematopathology cases including bone marrows, lymph nodes, flow cytometry, and peripheral blood smears.
  • Participate broadly in both departmental/institutional committees.
  • Participate in tumor board presentations.
  • Dedicate approximately 50% effort to research and scholarship activities.
  • Obtain extramural funding to support research activities after an initial start-up period.
  • Provide clinical consultation in blood transfusion practice and application of therapeutic apheresis.
  • Regularly interact with clinical colleagues to ensure the highest quality care for all patients.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend on-call coverage for all areas of the Division of Transfusion Medicine.
