About The Position

Consolidated Pathology Nashville is hiring a Pathologist Assistant. This role operates within preeminent, state-of-the-art anatomic pathology laboratories, focusing on optimal patient care through quality, communication, and exceptional client support. The Pathologist Assistant implements the laboratory's mission, goals, and objectives by providing professional service in the performance of job functions.

Requirements

  • Qualified to conduct high complexity testing which includes grossing of all types of specimens per CLIA regulations
  • Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree from a NAACLS accredited training programs or
  • Board-registered or eligible for registry as a Pathologists’ Assistant with one of the national registries associated with laboratory practice (NCA, ASCP, AMT, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Meets all responsibility requirements established by the Laboratory Administrator and Medical Director.
  • Adheres to all requirements of state law.
  • Responsible for all aspects of grossing.
  • Ensures the daily efficient operation of the sectioning in a manner consistent with the philosophies of the Medical Director and administration, which includes monitoring all competency and proficiency documentation for all surgical dissection personnel.
  • Researches and contributes to implementation of new procedures as needed.
  • Utilizes protocols and procedures considered acceptable by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
  • Operates, calibrates and maintains all related grossing equipment.
  • Ensures that all reagents and solutions are properly prepared, ordered, labeled and stored.
  • Performs routine and special grossing procedures on body tissues and/or fluids to provide information for diagnosing and combating disease, processes such specimens according to good practices of clinical laboratory science, and ensures section conforms with licensure requirements regarding grossing limitations.
  • Performs all aspects of grossing including qualitative and quantitative procedures utilizing established methods such as specimen processing.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by superiors.
