About The Position

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant! This exciting position offers you the chance to work closely with experienced pathologists and lead in the preparation and examination of surgical specimens that change lives. This role plays a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Primary Department, Division, or Unit: Histology, UHS Wilson Medical Center. Primary Work Shift: Day Rotational. Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or a related science with at least three years of supervised on-the-job training OR A degree from an NCCLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant training program.
• NYS License as a Pathologists’ Assistant.

Nice To Haves

• ASCP Certification as a Pathologists’ Assistant [PA(ASCP)CM].
• Additional certifications like Certified Histological Technician, Clinical Laboratory Technician, or Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Perform precise gross examinations and dissections of surgical specimens.
• Assist with the daily operations of the gross room, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.
• Follow NYSDOH, CAP, and CDC standards for care and compliance.
• Collaborate with pathologists and other clinical professionals to deliver timely, accurate specimen analyses.
• Maintain accurate records, manage tools, and aid technical staff to ensure the lab is stocked with necessary supplies.
