Patch Truck Operators perform skilled patching and other tasks in asphalt and concrete. They operate motorized equipment in the repair of street surfaces, drive a truck engaged in hauling materials and supplies, lead a small patch crew, and perform other duties as assigned. Employees in this classification are scheduled to receive general wage increases on 7/1/2027, 7/1/2028, and 1/1/2029. Eligible benefitted employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS). Patch Truck Operator employees may be required to work weekends, extended periods of night or unusual shift work for which they may receive 5% additional pay. Employees who operate commercial vehicles are required by California State Law, as a condition of employment, to submit to drug and alcohol testing. Prior to hire, a background check will be completed in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse and with former employers regarding drug and alcohol testing results.
