About The Position

We are seeking a creative and experienced Pastry Sous Chef with administration responsibilities to help lead our pastry department. The ideal candidate is deeply passionate about pastry arts, has a keen eye for detail, and a strong background in creating exquisite desserts and pastries. As a Pastry Sous Chef, you will work closely with our Executive Pastry Chef to oversee the production of high-quality desserts, bread, cakes and pastries. In addition, you will take on administrative duties to support the smooth operation of the kitchen. Additionally, please include a portfolio or photos of your pastry creations if available.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Sous Chef or similar role in a high-end restaurant or pastry shop.
  • Extensive knowledge of pastry techniques, dessert presentation, and baking.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Banquets experienced required.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional pastry experiences to guests.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Executive Pastry Chef to plan and execute dessert menus.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the pastry department, including managing a team of pastry cooks.
  • Train and mentor junior pastry staff to ensure consistency and excellence in execution.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and taste.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering pastry-related supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist the Executive Chef in the creation, costing and implementation of outlets, banquets, seasonal and special menus.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Manage kitchen scheduling and staff assignments across multiple outlets.
  • Manage associates in scheduling, training, developing, coaching and counseling, conducting reviews.
  • Attract, interview, retain and motivate associates while providing a safe work environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of recipe development, ingredient usage, and costing.
  • Coordinate with other departments for kitchen-related logistics.
  • Handle paperwork, including invoices, receipts, and other administrative tasks.
  • Implement and maintain kitchen policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
