About The Position

Pastry Cook, Wildlight Kitchen + Bar at our location in Vancouver, BC near the UBC area. Wildlight is the Pattison Food Group’s first full-service restaurant, where the spirit of the West Coast inspires everything – from the local and seasonal ingredients on the menu to the relaxed and sophisticated interior featuring the natural elements and textures of Canada’s scenic western shoreline. Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of previous experience as a pastry cook in an upscale high-volume, full-service restaurant environment.
  • A Food Safe Certificate.
  • Knowledge in temperature and recipe conversion.
  • Proficiency in different cooking methods.
  • Ability to work where there is frequent exposure to smoke, steam, high and low temperatures, and humidity.
  • An excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Creative, innovative, and passionate for great food and providing outstanding customer service.
  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail oriented with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Baking experience with breads and cakes (considered an asset).

Responsibilities

  • Preparing various baked goods, cakes, pastries, and desserts according to standard recipe, plating, quality expectations and time standards.
  • Portioning, arranging and garnishing food to ensure proper presentation.
  • Assisting with storeroom duties as needed, such as receiving orders, rotating stock, and labelling and dating food items that are prepped or opened.
  • Maintaining professional communication with front of the house employees to accommodate all guest requests and special dietary needs.
  • Observing and testing food to ensure proper quality using methods such as tasting, smelling, or temperature checks.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area and ensuring that equipment in the work area is clean and in proper working condition.
  • Operating a variety of kitchen equipment.
  • Assisting other cooks during peak periods.
