About The Position

The Jefferson Hotel is seeking a talented and passionate Seasonal Pastry Cook to join our culinary team. This role is responsible for preparing and producing high-quality baked goods, desserts, and pastries for both the restaurant and hotel operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate creativity, precision, and consistency, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation expected at The Jefferson. This position starts in October/November and will work through the holidays. Our ideal candidate is a motivated, detail-oriented individual who takes pride in their craft, enjoys working in a professional kitchen environment, and thrives under the guidance of a talented pastry team.

Requirements

  • Must be fully flexible and available to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Previous pastry or baking experience required, including breads, cakes, and dessert production.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow recipes precisely, and proficiency in baking and decorating techniques.
  • Dependable, punctual, and dedicated to producing consistent, high-quality products.
  • Minimum of 2 years professional pastry or baking experience in a full-service or fine dining environment.
  • Strong understanding of pastry fundamentals and baking techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Dependable, professional, and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, bake, and finish a wide variety of pastries, breads, and desserts according to established recipes and standards.
  • Assist with production for restaurant service, banquet events, and special functions.
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety in all pastry areas.
  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
  • Cover all the outlets (Banquets, TJ’s, Lemaire, Room Service, Afternoon Tea, and Gators).
  • Support the Pastry Chef and culinary team as needed with daily production and service.
  • Produce high-quality baked goods including breads, cakes, breakfast pastries, tarts, mousses, and plated desserts.
  • Decorate cakes and pastries with artistic precision and consistency.
  • Follow standardized recipes and portion controls to maintain product consistency.
  • Ensure all pastry and baking equipment is used safely and properly maintained.
  • Organize and label all ingredients and prepared items for efficient service.
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and receiving of pastry supplies.
  • Maintain adherence to all health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
