About The Position
Marigolds and Onions provides customers across the GTA with a one-stop-shop catering experience. From daily drop-offs to large-scale events, our commitment to our clients is unsurpassed. Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Toronto, we have grown into one of Toronto’s leading catering and event production companies. We proudly serve major professional firms, venues, charitable organizations, and some of the city’s largest sporting events. We are hiring Pastry Cooks to prepare a variety of pastries and desserts according to M&O recipes and standards. This is a contract role and will conclude in September.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of food preparation.
- Working knowledge of pastry & dessert preparation
- Safe food handling practices
- Working knowledge of mixers, other large equipment.
- Comprehensive understanding of the English language.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and managers.
- Familiarity with pastry related skills.

- Comfortable learning and using event technology systems and troubleshooting issues quickly.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of identifying and resolving issues efficiently under pressure.
- Comfortable working flexible hours and adjusting to changing operational needs.
- Dependable attendance and commitment to supporting the event team.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direction of the Pastry Chef to prepare and assist in the production of a variety of baked goods and desserts.
- Prepare cakes, pies, tarts, and cookies.
- Create mousses, custards, sauces, and compotes.
- Bake a variety of breads and other pastry items.
- Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards for all pastry products.
