About The Position

This role is responsible for the station's workflow and ensuring meals get out on time by overseeing the cooking process from start to finish and determining how much time each step requires. The Pastry Cook ensures quality and consistency of all food menu items, as well as demonstrates knowledge of all areas of the kitchen. This position requires the ability to anticipate and accommodate the needs of guests, handle allergy and/or dietary restrictions and modifications, and prepare all restaurant foods, hot and cold. The role involves accurately following orders from the POS system and/or directions from the expeditor, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned station, and communicating product needs to chefs and support staff. The Pastry Cook must also comply with Department of Health and company sanitation standards, check cover counts, BEOs, and/or Fire Sheets, and properly set up and break down the station according to management's direction, including stocking supplies, setting 'mise en place' following FIFO and company standards, and sanitizing the station. Additionally, the role involves reporting equipment or furniture damage, attending pre-service meetings and training sessions, learning from observation and sharing knowledge, and maintaining a positive and professional attitude. The Pastry Cook will work as part of a team, providing help and support to all fellow team members, and may complete additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year baker/pastry experience or equivalent related Tao Group Hospitality experience required.
  • Ability to write, read, and verbally communicate.
  • Must be able to move quickly.
  • Must be able to push and lift up to 75 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company standards.
  • Must be effective as part of a team; ability to interact with internal and external customers, managers, and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant/nightclub/lounge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow supervisor’s instructions, and communicate with and support co-workers, while being a team player.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of assigned recipes with the ability to execute them to company standards.
  • Possess general knowledge of the venue.
  • Comply with Department of Health and company sanitation standards.
  • Communicate product needs to the chefs and the support staff.
  • Check cover counts, BEOs, and/or Fire Sheets.
  • Properly set-up station and perform opening/closing procedures as directed by management.
  • Stock station with prescribed supplies.
  • Set “mise en place” following FIFO and company standards.
  • Wipe down and sanitize station.
  • Complete opening duties as assigned or directed.
  • Complete closing duties as assigned or directed.
  • Report all breakage, and damage of equipment or furniture immediately to management.
  • Attend and participate in daily pre-service meetings (where applicable).
  • Attend and participate in any training sessions or departmental meetings.
  • Learn by listening, observing other team members, and sharing knowledge while leading by example.
  • Portray a positive and professional attitude.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Tao Group Hospitality, its partners, and supporting hotel environments.
  • Work as part of a team and provide help and support to all fellow team members.
  • Assist and/ or complete additional tasks as assigned.
