About The Position

Normandy Farm Hotel & Conference Center is seeking a qualified Pastry Cook to work in an upscale hospitality environment. The role prepares cookies, cakes, breads, and other pastries using established recipes and presentation standards. The ideal candidate has an upbeat demeanor, a passion for the culinary arts, an exemplary work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to superior customer service. The schedule is five days per week, including weekends, during the AM shift listed as 6:00 PM–2:00 PM. The hourly rate is $18.00–$22.00, based on experience level.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have one year of previous pastry experience.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Basic math skills.
Attention to detail.
Flexible schedule, especially during the holidays.
Reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a culinary school program or apprenticeship is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare plated desserts, chocolates, confections, entremets, frozen desserts, glazes, pies, cakes, and other bakery items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
Help set the pace and daily prep lists with pastry staff.
Understand and oversee banquet orders, bread orders, and ordering in the absence of the Executive Pastry Chef.
Oversee pastry cart and buffet dessert table setup and presentation.
Help maintain the cleanliness of the bake shop.
Assist with wedding cake orders, including special cake shapes and decorations.
Assist with producing bread, rolls, biscuits, and muffins to maintain an inventory of freshly baked goods.
Notify the Executive Pastry Chef in advance of expected product shortages.
Requisition supplies as needed to prepare menu items.
Ensure the work area is safe and secure and adhere to state and local health and safety regulations.
Maintain the highest sanitary conditions.
Perform other duties as assigned by the employer.
