The Pfister Hotel is seeking a talented Pastry Cook II to join their culinary team. This role contributes to memorable dining experiences across the hotel's restaurants, banquets, and special events. The ideal candidate has a passion for pastry, takes pride in creating exceptional desserts with precision and creativity, and is energized by working in a fast-paced luxury hotel environment where quality and guest satisfaction are top priorities. The Pfister Hotel, built in 1893, is an iconic hospitality establishment in Milwaukee with over 130 years of history, known for its gracious service and impeccable style, and has maintained AAA Four Diamond hotel status for over 50 consecutive years.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of pastry, baking, or culinary experience required.
  • Knowledge of advanced baking techniques, dessert preparation, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary or Pastry Arts degree/certificate or formal training preferred.
  • Hotel or upscale dining experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, bake, and finish a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, cakes, cookies, and specialty items while ensuring adherence to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
  • Assist in pastry production for hotel restaurants, banquets, catering events, room service, and special functions while ensuring timely execution.
  • Support daily pastry operations by assisting with inventory management, product preparation planning, and training or mentoring team members.
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality, consistency, taste, and appearance for all pastry products served throughout the hotel, proactively identifying and correcting issues when necessary.
  • Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to support menu offerings, special events, and seasonal pastry creations that enhance the guest experience.
