About The Position

Global Gourmet Catering in San Francisco, CA is searching for a driven part-time Pastry Chef Assistant who's excited to grow, create, and contribute to unforgettable culinary experiences. This part-time position offers hourly pay between $23 and $25, along with paid time off and holidays, paid sick time, UNITE HERE Local 2 union benefits, a complimentary meal during every shift, and clear opportunities for professional growth within a respected catering operation. As our Pastry Chef Assistant, you'll enjoy morning shifts that support our production and event needs, working part-time for 30 hours per week, with opportunities for overtime during peak seasons when events are at their busiest. You step into the pastry kitchen with a clear sense of purpose, working side by side with the pastry chef, moving seamlessly between prepping ingredients, executing established recipes, and fine-tuning finishes so each dessert looks as good as it tastes. As the rhythm of production picks up, you help guide teammates, answering questions, keeping work flowing, and making sure standards stay uncompromised. Along the way, you test new ideas, adjust flavors, and collaborate on creative refinements that will appear at upcoming events. You stay organized, adapt quickly when priorities shift, and take pride in leaving every station spotless, knowing your work directly shapes the guest experience and pushes your skills further each day.

Requirements

  • Food Handler certification or ability to obtain prior to start
  • Strong technical knowledge of baking methods, ingredient functions, and recipe execution
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish to effectively communicate with team members
  • Ability to accurately measure, scale, and follow standardized recipes with consistency
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment
  • Strong leadership potential
  • Creative mindset with interest in pastry innovation and menu development
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to support and guide team members
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of professional pastry or bakery experience is preferred (restaurant, hotel, or catering environment a plus)
