About The Position

We’re looking for a dedicated and experienced Pasteurizer Controller Lead Person to join our production team. This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant pasteurization operations while providing leadership and support to the department. Under the direction of the Capping and Pasteurizing Department Supervisor, assists in overseeing general operation of pasteurizing function.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent needed.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English required.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions required.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains packing information from packing schedule or Supervisor and assigns co-workers to workstations.
  • Under the direction of Supervisor, monitors performance of co-workers and coaches on needed corrections.
  • Assists in training of all new Pasteurizer Controllers and Pasteurizer Unscramblers and provides additional training to co-workers as needed to improve job performance.
  • Instructs co-workers on proper "pulling of bottles" for any defects including cap defects, broken glass, loose pack, tight pack, broken pickles, foreign objects, etc. at the pasteurizer discharge.
  • Utilizes data trace to verify pasteurization to ensure HACCP minimums of time/temperatures have been met.
  • Monitors pasteurization of each product to determine that the product reaches the required temperature range for the required holding time period.
  • Monitors water usage for pasteurization and cooling.
  • Prepares various daily reports for Department.
  • Reports all bottles removed from pasteurizer discharge and notes numbers of and type of defects.
  • Assists Supervisor in preparing maintenance work requests and follows up on repair work.
  • Prepares memo for change in Pasteurizer Controller's rotations.
  • Monitors condition of pasteurizers, conveyors and other equipment and reports problems and/or safety hazards to Supervisor.
  • Obtains safety equipment and insures use by co-workers.
  • Coaches co-workers on proper record-keeping techniques.
  • Checks these records several times daily.
  • Instructs co-workers on housekeeping procedures and keeps assigned work area clean and tidy.
  • Follows safety rules and company policies.
  • Sets up times for changing of pasteurizer water.
  • Has "slack pack" and all "rework" products palletized and sent to appropriate area at appointed times.
  • Performs duties of Pasteurizer Controller and Unscrambler as needed.
  • Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
  • Receives written instructions from packing schedule or verbal instructions from supervisor on above tasks and performs other work as directed by supervisor.
