The Passenger Services Representative (PSR) works under the direction of the Passenger Services Lead and performs duties in Customer Service, Onboard Passenger Services, and Operations Monitoring Center. The PSR will fill in for staff during temporary vacancies and provide general backup support as needed. The PSR shifts vary greatly and coincide with the train schedule, with some shifts starting as early as 3:00 am and others ending after 9:30 pm or after the last train returns. When providing services onboard the train, the PSR is typically away for approximately 16 hours per day, often working split shifts that involve travel from Stockton to San Jose with stops at 10 stations. A layover at a designated hotel in San Jose is provided, though work schedules and layovers are subject to change. The role requires the ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, climb stairs, reach, and lift heavy objects, with onboard duties keeping the PSR on their feet for the entire train trip. SJRRC seeks to employ individuals whose backgrounds and abilities enhance the diversity of the community it serves, with a selection process based on merit and job-related criteria. Applicants best matching the requirements will be invited for interviews, and select positions may require an assessment prior to interview. All offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a background report and potentially a physical and/or drug screen. SJRRC is a drug-free workplace and a government agency.
