Requirements

  • Business Administration degree or certificate.
  • Successfully completed a formal Supervisors Course.
  • Emergency First Aid certification.
  • CASAP certification.
  • Human Factors certification.
  • CSOC certification.
  • Ability to obtain a RAIC.

  • Knowledgeable of, or willing to learn, Canadian Air Transportation Regulations (SOR/88-58), the HIAA Airport Security Plan, and all other pertinent HIAA orders and directives.
  • Knowledgeable of, or willing to learn, provincial and federal legislation that may impact operations, including: Canada Labour Code, Nova Scotia Labour Act, Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Human Rights Act, Labour Standards Code, Workers' Compensation Act.
  • Candidates must be aged 19 or older.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must not have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted.
  • Must be able to provide fingerprints and complete a criminal record check.
  • Must be eligible to apply for, and attain, Government of Canada secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment and decision making in emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to changing situations.

Responsibilities

  • Credential Management: Reviewing applications for the Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC), managing pass control, and conducting fingerprinting and biometrics for airport personnel.
  • Security Compliance: Ensuring all activities meet Transport Canada regulations and HIAA security standards.
  • Administrative Oversight: Overseeing Pass Control related administrative tasks, including visitors pass sign-out, key control, and lost and found.
  • Reports: Completing quality assurance, audits, and reports that demonstrate regulatory compliance.
  • Staff Supervision: Monitoring, managing, and correcting Pass Control staff, and providing ongoing training and direction to the team.
  • Incident Response: Coordinating the security response to incidents and responding to emergencies during their shift.
  • Customer Service: Providing support and service to the public and the broader airport community regarding Pass Control and security credentials, working with stakeholders to explain process requirements and assist them in completing documentation.
