About The Position
GLS is seeking a professional Pashto Consecutive Interpreter to provide onsite interpretation services in Plymouth, Michigan. The interpreter will support effective communication between English-speaking personnel and Pashto-speaking clients in a professional environment.
Requirements
- Fluency in Pashto and English (required)
- Proven experience in consecutive interpreting
- Strong listening, memory retention, and note-taking skills
- Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information professionally
Nice To Haves
- Experience in medical, legal, or community interpretation
- National certifications (e.g., CCHI, NBCMI ) or equivalent
- Familiarity with industry-specific terminology
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate consecutive interpretation (Pashto ↔ English) during onsite sessions
- Ensure completeness, neutrality, and cultural accuracy of all interpretations
- Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and professional standards
- Arrive on time and maintain professionalism at all times
- Manage communication flow and request clarification when necessary
