About The Position

This is a part-time position requiring nights and weekends. The role involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating events, primarily kids' birthday parties, within a Michaels store to ensure a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Additionally, the position requires delivering friendly customer service, assisting customers with shopping and locating products, and ensuring a fast and friendly checkout experience. Operational tasks such as truck unloading, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Retail and/or customer service experience required.
  • Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
  • Must have excellent people skills.
  • Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
  • Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects, perform face painting, and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
  • Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork.
  • Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold company cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions.
  • Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
  • Engage customers on the benefits of the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
  • Educate customers on the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
  • Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
  • Participate in truck un-load, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes.
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
  • Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organization’s vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
  • Cross-train in Custom Framing selling and production.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms.
